Jay E. Leedy, 77, of Neosho Falls, Kansas, died Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Mission Health in Yates Center, Kansas. Jay was born July 20, 1937, on the family farm west of Neosho Falls, the son of Eugene Newport and Gladys Gertrude (Lynn) Leedy. He graduated from Neosho Falls High School in 1955 and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. On October 25, 1959, Jay married Hazel Crumley in Rushville, Illinois. They made their home in Lenexa for 20 years. He worked as maintenance supervisor at Children's Mercy Hospital and later was director of plant operations at The Rehabilitation Institute. He started pulling oil wells and they moved to Neosho Falls. He was a member of the Neosho Falls United Methodist Church and also served as mayor of Neosho Falls. SURVIVORS: His wife of 55 years: Hazel Leedy of the home 2 Sons: Mark Leedy of Yates Center and Ken Leedy & wife, Susan of Yates Center 2 Grandchildren: Caitlin & Morgan 2 Siblings: Robert Leedy of Chanute, KS and Mary Lynn Beaman of Spring Hill, KS He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015, at the Neosho Falls United Methodist Church.
