Jean Morris

Jean L. Morris, 74, of Newton, Kansas, formerly of Iola, Kansas, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Jean was born October 2, 1935, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Louise (Thurman) Lilly. She grew up in Iola and attended Iola schools. In 1954, Jean married David Sherrill and they made their home in Iola. They had three daughters before the marriage ended. On April 21, 1973, Jean married Albert "Bud" Morris. They have made their home in Newton, Kansas, for 32 years. Jean enjoyed cooking, reading, visiting with friends and caring for her dog and cat, Cupcake and Tasha. When she resided in Iola, Jean attended the Trinity United Methodist Church. SURVIVORS: Her husband of 37 years: Albert "Bud" Morris of the home 3 Daughters: Melinda Wymore & her husband, John of Gas, KS, Debra LeGrande & her husband, George of Welda, KS, and Gloria Sherrill of the home who also was her caregiver in recent years 1 Sister: Mary Eagle of Bonner Springs, KS 5 Grandchildren: David Kinzle, Karen Jones, Samantha Hall, Kimberly LeGrande and John Wymore 12 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Stephen and Michael Wymore and by 3 great grandchildren. VISITATION: She will lie in state on Friday and Saturday from 8:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, for friends and family to call at their convenience. Cremation will follow. Private family inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola, at a later date.
