Jerry Ray Sinclair, age 82, of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019, at Ascension via Christie St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas on his wife’s birthday.
Jerry was the fifth child of eight children born to Fred and Geneva (Walden) Sinclair. He was born on April 27, 1937. He married Marie Elena Heiman on December 16, 1961 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Humboldt, Kansas. To this union were born four children. Rebecca, Ray, Denise and Angie.
Jerry grew up in Iola, and attended school through the eighth grade. He then helped his family on the farm. Jerry enlisted in the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Yosemite (AD-19) from March 15, 1956, through March 14, 1959, traveling the Mediterrean Sea. He received the Good Conduct Medal for those years of service. Jerry returned to Iola; working various jobs, including owning a tree trimming business, and working at Humboldt Brick & Tile Co. In 1972, Jerry received his GED enabling him to work for Monarch Cement Co and provide a better life for his family. He retired from Monarch in March 2000.
Jerry’s love of horses and mules were his greatest hobby. He also enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, cooking and visiting with family and friends. He could go anywhere and find a friend.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Marie on December 27, 2012; one son, Raymond Dean Sinclair on January 22, 2000; brothers Jackie Eugene Sinclair, Johnny Joe Sinclair, Edward Sinclair, and Leon Sinclair, and sister Darles Wall.
He is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Spino and husband, Brad, of Salida, Colorado, Denise Schomaker and husband, Frank Jr., of Humboldt, Kansas, and Angie Sinclair of Kansas City, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Justin Sinclair, Jeffrey Sinclair, Jericka Hare and husband Shane, Emily Petersen and husband Josh, Alex Piatt and significant other Tory Runnells, Bill Schomaker and significant other Sheila Foster, Faith Spino, and William Moulin; and sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Letsinger of Iola and Shirley Scheer of Iola and numerous nieces and nephews..
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 14, 2019, at The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas. The family will greet friends following the service. Memorials are suggested to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (A.C.A.R.F.) and may be left with the funeral home.
