Jess W. Morrison

On November 29, 2016, Jess Wiley Morrison was surrounded by family and friends at Allen County Regional Hospital when he lost his long hard fought battle with his illness. Jess was born December 29, 1965, in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Earl and Marilyn (Collins) Morrison. He grew up in Woodson County and graduated from Yates Center High School in 1984. Jess was very active in 4-H for 12 years and participated in sports and F.F.A. throughout his high school years. On August 7, 1993, Jess married Kim Pratt in Las Vegas, Nevada. With this marriage they have two sons, Chase (Dani) of Iola, KS and Cole of the home. Jess owned and operated his own cabinet business until his sickness in 2009. Jess enjoyed spending time with his boys, grandsons, nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed playing golf, watching KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Morrison and his father-in-law, Alvin Pratt. Survivors include his wife, Kim; 2 sons Chase (Dani) and Cole; 5 grandkids, Bryson, Brindley, Kale, Bentley and Landon; his mother, Marilyn (Morrison) Seward of Iola; his mother-in-law, Jeanette Pratt of Iola; 3 brothers, Charles (Sandy) Morrison, Mark Morrison & Steven (Dina) Morrison; and 2 sisters, Debbie (Dave) Trahan and Cheryl Morrison all of Yates Center, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. The funeral mass will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
