Jesse Ray Michael, age 83, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Webb City Health and Rehab Center in Webb City, Missouri.
Jesse was born in Anderson, Missouri, on March 4, 1940, to Furlin and Armeta Michael. J.R. was extremely proud to be a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was retired and was a pool shark and avid fisherman who thoroughly enjoyed traveling around the country, singing karaoke, and spending time with his family.
J.R was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ronnie; and sister Shirley.
He is survived by his daughter Sara Hart and husband Greg, and granddaughter Emily of Joplin, Missouri; son Kelly Michael of Fayetteville, Arkansas; sister Cheryl Boston and husband Chuck of Olathe, Kansas; sister Jerry Michael of Iola, Kansas; sister Linda Monfort and husband Larry of Mackinsville, Kansas; brother Frank Michael of Iola, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of J.R. may be made to the Fisher House Foundation which provides funding to families of veterans and wounded soldiers who are receiving treatment at medical facilities. Memorial contributions may be left in care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas, 66749.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Warrens Branch Baptist Church, 9166 Antelope Road, Seneca, Missouri, 64865.
A private family service will be held under the direction of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas.
