J.H. Truitt

J.H. Truitt, Jr., 87, of Iola, Kansas, died Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Iola Nursing Center. J.H. was born February 21, 1924, at Tuckerman, Arkansas, the son of Hubert and Ida (Goins) Truitt, Sr. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On March 17, 1945, J.H. married Nila Russell and they made their home in Arkansas until moving to Kansas in 1952. In 1960, they made their home in Iola. He worked with dairy cattle most of his life and was employed by Strickler Dairy in Iola for a number of years. He later worked at McDonald's Restaurant until ill health forced his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Iola. SURVIVORS: His wife of 66 years: Nila Truitt of the home 1 Son: Gary Truitt of Russell, Kansas 1 Daughter: Phyllis Truitt of Springdale, Arkansas 1 Sister: Leola Woodruff of Tuckerman, Arkansas 3 Grandchildren FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Phillip Crown will officiate. Visitation will follow the service.
