James T. "Jim" Bell, 62, of Iola, Kansas, died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas. Jim was born September 10, 1947, at Neosho Falls, Kansas, the son of H.W. and Hellen L. (Blohm) Bell. The family moved to Iola when he was three years old. He graduated from Iola High School in 1965 and joined the United States Navy where he served in Vietnam. He returned to Iola following his honorable discharge from the navy. Jim has worked for the Iola Fire Department, in the oil fields, restoring classic cars and as a mechanic and for the city of Iola. He especially enjoyed rebuilding motorcycles and classic cars. Jim was a member of the Iola Elks. SURVIVORS: 2 Daughters: Brenda Boeck & husband, Jay of St. Clair, MI and Lori Hollis & husband, Bob of Columbiaville, MI His Mother: Hellen Bell of Iola, KS 4 Grandchildren: Jayson, Katlyn, Kevin and Sara 1 Brother: William Bell & wife, Marge of Wichita, KS 2 Sisters: Doris Peters & husband, Pete of Iola, KS and Marie Davis & husband, Gary of Cheney, KS He was preceded in death by his father. Cremation has taken place. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. INURNMENT: Highland Cemetery in Iola, with military honors If anyone wants one last ride with Jim, please bring your bike to ride in the procession to the cemetery.
