Dewey L. "Jim" "Cowboy" Lewis, 72, of Elsmore, Kansas, died Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Windsor Place in Iola. Jim was born November 7, 1942, at Pineville, Missouri, the son of Dewey and Elsie (Drake) Lewis. He grew up in the Pineville area. On December 23, 1961, Jim married Carlin Kay Schlessman at Tracy Church in Anderson, Missouri. They made their home in Pineville until 1965 when they moved to Moran. In 1968, they moved to Elsmore. Jim worked for the Katy Railroad. In 1988, Union Pacific took over and he retired in 2000 due to health issues. Jim was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Railroad Union, Elsmore Ruitan Club, Virginia Lodge of Masons at Savonburg, Mirza Shrine, Tri-County Shrine and the MG Shriner's Club, and attended Elsmore United Methodist Church. He also played in the Senior Golf League Group at Cedarbrook in Iola. SURVIVORS: His wife of 53 years: Kay Lewis of the home 3 Children & 9 Grandchildren: Doug Lewis & wife, Susan of Moran & their children Tyler & Tanner, James Lewis & wife, Carla of Cherokee & their children Kyle, Kaytlyn, Taylor & Chad, and Shannon Boyd & husband, Kent of Moran & their children Kailey, Keagan & Kamryn 3 Siblings: Paul Lewis of Neosho, MO, Dorothy Allgood & husband, Ernie and Louise Schlessman all of Pineville, MO He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, David Lewis. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, KS FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at the Moran United Methodist Church, Moran, KS BURIAL: Moran Cemetery, Moran, KS IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospitals for Children Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
