Jim Peres

James Richard "Jim" Peres, 73, of LaHarpe, Kansas, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, at his home. Jim was born June 15, 1943, in Iola, the son of Ottie Eugene and Evelyn Maxine (Symmes) Peres. He grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1963. Jim had mastered many trades in his lifetime including autobody, boilermaker and bridge and road construction. Jim enjoyed family, friends, sports and all aspects relating to autos. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Topeka. Survivors include his wife, Rita Peres of the home; 3 sons, Russ Peres & wife, Tina and Mike Peres & wife, Michelle all of LaHarpe, and Trevis Mayfield & Sheila Bohrer of Big Creek; 1 grandson, Zachery Peres & wife, Kaci of Garnett, KS, 3 great grandchildren, Cadin, Maddilyn & Isabella; 2 sisters, Judy Johnson & husband, Ralph of Iola and Mable Roush & husband, Elmer of Chanute, brother-in-law Clint Dillow & wife, Julie of Cassville, MO, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Rev. Donald Peres and 3 granddaughters, Emma Nicole Peres, Alexandrea Marie "Alle" Peres, and Mateah Mayfield. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 16 N. Buckeye, Iola, KS 66749. Memorials are suggested to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) or Harry Hynes Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.
