"Jo" Joan E. Goddard

Joan E. Goddard, age 75, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on December 20, 2010, at Northpoint Care Facility in Paola, Kansas. Jo was born on February 24, 1935, at Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Antone and Velma (Thompson) Nilges. She graduated from Garnett High School. Jo worked as a sewing machine operator, and then worked as a dietician at Osawatomie State Hospital. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Garnett and volunteered for many local activities. She enjoyed her flowers and gardening. Jo was a cheerful person with a good sense of humor and positive attitude. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Antone and Velma Nilges; and one brother, Charles Nilges. She is survived by her daughter, Freida Gade and husband Evan of Lane, Kansas; son, Tony Goddard and wife Diane of Brighton, Colorado; son, Fred Goddard Jr. and wife Carmen; four grandchildren, John Collier of Springfield, Missouri; Christopher Goddard; Marc Goddard and Crystal Goddard; one sister, Jean Brewer of Nephi, Utah. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010, at the First Christian Church in Garnett, Kansas.
