Jo Ann O'Malley, age 89, of Garnett, Kansas, entered eternal life at Residential Living Center on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a caring wife, and hard worker. She loved being with her family, especially the little ones, dancing, playing cards, and cooking. She was especially fond of her roses and lilacs. She was active in the Altar Society at Holy Angels and the VFW Auxiliary. She was born on September 6, 1927, to Frank and Georgia Haag in Atchison County, Kansas. She graduated from Effingham High School. Her many work experiences included cooking at Richmond Nursing Home and Anderson County Hospital. After retirement, she served as the "Lunch Lady" at Garnett Elementary School until she was 80. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Walter; her daughter, Kathy; and her brother, Bill Haag. She is survived by her children, Sr. Lois O'Malley, CSJ of Wichita, Kansas, James O'Malley of Parsons, Kansas, Danny O'Malley of Wichita, Kansas, Carol Kane and Earl Johnson, of Derby, Kansas, Margie Bunnel and husband Russ of Welda, Kansas, Rose Mary Carson of Aurora, Illinois, Joe O'Malley of Wichita, Kansas; her grandchildren, Erin Hendry and husband Justin of Haysville, Kansas, Jennifer Bunnel of Garnett, Kansas, Eric Bunnel and wife Kristin of Tijeras, New Mexico, Dena Bunnel of Manhattan, Kansas, Sam Carson of Aurora, Illinois, Amanda Carson of Aurora, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Grace and Emilee Hendry, Taryn and Brynleigh Morrow, and Zachary, Charlotte, and Kaylee Bunnel; her brother, Pete Haag and wife Leah and sister, Mary Haag. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 1, 2017, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Holy Angels Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas. The family will greet friends following a wake service and rosary at 5:00 PM on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas.
