Joan Sallee

Joan Sallee, 82, of Iola, Kansas passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at the Allen County Hospital. Joan was born December 13, 1930, on a farm west of Humboldt, Kansas, the daughter of Fred L. and Mary Inez (Wamsley) Dice, Sr. She graduated from LaHarpe High School in 1948. On November 24, 1949, Joan married William "Gene" Sallee of LaHarpe and they made their home in Iola. He worked for Southwestern Bell for 41 years and she was a homemaker. Gene preceded her in death November 16, 1996. Joan was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and Wesley United Methodist Women. She enjoyed caring for her cat, Lily. SURVIVORS: 2 Daughters: Brenda Hehr & husband, Rich of Overland Park, KS, and Donell Gregory of Cincinnati, OH Grandchildren: Justin Spray & wife, Tuesday, Casey Hehr & wife, Tara, Tag Gregory, Alexis Gregory and Abigail Hehr Great Grandchildren: Vivienne Spray, Coburn Hehr and Cole Hehr Sister-In-Law: Dorothy Dice of Garnett, KS She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Fred L. Dice, Jr. and sisters, Christena Corner and Virginia Collison & husband, Dale. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Inurnment will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery at a later date.
