John E. Blaufuss, age 73, of Westphalia, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at his home. John was born on November 6, 1937, on the family farm at Westphalia, Kansas, the son of Ewald and Rose (Hagemann) Blaufuss. He grew up in Westphalia, and graduated from Westphalia High School in 1955. John lived on the same farm for all of his life. On November 13, 1957, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Schulte at Westphalia, Kansas. John was a farmer and cattleman. He was a member of the St. Teresa Catholic Church in Westphalia, serving as a lector and song leader. Throughout the years, John enjoyed coaching baseball when his sons played and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also liked to hunt and fish; watch sports on television, and work in his garden. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leo and Francis Blaufuss; and a brother-in-law, Lyle Schulte. John is survived by his wife of 53years, Marilyn Blaufuss of the home; two sons, Michael Blaufuss and wife Jennifer of Colony, Kansas; Victor Blaufuss and wife Angela of Burlington, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his brother, Father Tony Blaufuss of Garnett; his sister, Mary Frank and husband George of Westphalia, Kansas; sisters-in-law Doris and husband, Ernie Helmer, Darlene and husband Donald Hermann, and Kathy Schulte. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, June 10, 2011 at the St. Teresa Catholic Church, Westphalia. Interment will follow in the St. Teresa Cemetery. A wake service will be held at 7:30 PM, Thursday evening at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa Church or to Allen County Hospice.
