John Robert "Bob" Zentner, age 81, of Welda, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at his home in Welda. Bob was born on October 27, 1929, at Garnett, Kansas, the son of John and Nora (Rudisill) Zentner. He grew up in the Garnett area, graduating from Garnett High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to Birdie Leone Beasley on October 18, 1953. This union was blessed with five daughters. Bob was a farmer and cattleman. He had dairy cattle for many years while his daughters were growing up, and then switched to beef cattle. He was a hard worker, and helped other farmers as well. He worked as a County Road Grader for about 10 years. Bob enjoyed daily visits to the Co-op on days he wasn't working. He was a member of the First Christian Church. Bob had strong faith, and he loved the Bible. He also enjoyed fishing and woodworking, joking and laughing, and he never knew a stranger. His greatest joy was his family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law Richard Trembly. He is survived by his wife Birdie Zentner, of the home; Debbie Poire and husband Danny of Westphalia, Kansas; Donna Hart and husband Troy of Garnett, Kansas; Dorothy Lankard and husband Larry of Independence; Linda Trembly of Chanute; Darla McGovern and husband Jeff of Wellington; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great grandchildren; his brother, George Zentner and wife Jeanine of Garnett; nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2011, at the First Christian Church, Garnett, burial to follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett.
