John Harvey Boeken, Sr., age 57, of Iola, Kansas, passed away October 19, 2021, at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, Missouri. John was born July 30, 1964, in Iola, Kansas, to James I. Boeken, Sr. and Corrine (McCullough) Boeken.
John graduated in 1983 from Iola High School, Iola, Kansas. John worked in the steel industry until his health failed.
John liked spending time with his family and he enjoyed fishing. He loved his dogs, Roscoe and Duke.
John was preceded in death by his father, James I. Boeken, Sr.
John is survived by his mother, Corrine Boeken, Iola, Kansas; children, Annie Velasquez (Ramon), Fountain, Florida, John Harvey Boeken, Jr. (Meka), Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Nicholas Boeken (Mia), Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Shawna Johnson (Wayne), Topeka, Kansas, Megan Boland, Topeka, Kansas; 31 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Terry L. Boeken, Sr. (Arlene), Altamont, Kansas, James Boeken, Jr. (Kellie), Iola, Kansas; sister, Julie Kukacka, Iola, Kansas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to the John Boeken Memorial Fund, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
