John Carter Stewart, age 73, passed away at Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri on October 23, 2023, with family near.
John was born on May 23, 1950, to Duane and Bernice (Henry) Stewart, the middle of three children.
He attended school at North Fairview School for first through fifth grade and then went from six to graduation at Marmaton Valley and graduated with the class of 1969.
In 1969, he married Paulette Johnston, this union was blessed with two boys. They later divorced. On June 27, 1980, he married Teresea Long, they were blessed with four children.
John loved being outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening. He enjoyed tinkering in his woodshop. John never met a stranger, he loved visiting with anyone that had time to chat. He was a faithful attendant at Midpoint Baptist Church. Spending time with friends, and family was a great priority in his life. Grandchildren could always be found hanging out with "papa". He would always leave you with a "love you later".
John is preceded in death by his parents; brother Steve Stewart; nephew Paul Stewart; niece Brandi Lynes; father-in-law Harold Long; mother-in-law Patricia Johnson; sisters-in-law Debra Lowry and Donna K. Long; and brother-in-law Dale Lynes.
He is survived by wife of 43 years Teresa; children Brian Stewart, Craig (Jodi) Stewart, Tricia Long, Michael (Mandy) Stewart, Michelle Stewart, Patrick (Misty) Stewart, 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sister Corky Lynes and many other family and friends.
Family will greet friends on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Venue, Iola, Kansas. Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at the Midpoint Baptist Church in Moran, Kansas.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the John Stewart Memorial Fund and checks may be payable to Teresa Stewart and left in the care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US HWY 54, Iola, Kansas 66749.
