John White, 81, of Iola, Kansas, passed away May 16, 2012 at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. John was born August 10, 1930, the son of John William and Nettie Mae (Fleer) White in Caldwell, Kansas. He grew up near Renfrow and Deer Creek, Oklahoma. After he graduated from high school, his folks moved their family farm near LaHarpe, Kansas. He attended Neosho County College for a short time. John spent two years service in the Marines. He was stationed in Hawaii after basic training. During this time, he married Mary Frances Coykendall. They later made their home in Humboldt, Kansas. In later years, they were divorced. He then married Doris Hodge and adopted Doris's son James. Doris died September 12, 1997. After Doris's death, he married Kay Tindel. They were divorced. He worked for Monarch Cement Company in Humboldt for over 30 years. He is survived by a daughter-in-law Tina White, Iola, KS, one granddaughter, Ashley Hamilton and husband, Dave, Iola, KS, one great granddaughter, one sister, Leona Pool and husband, Eugene, Savonburg, KS, one niece, Joyce Allen, Chanute, KS and one nephew, Jerry Pool, Mulberry, KS, and several great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, and two step-grandsons, Joshua Baker and Steven Baker and wife, Barbara. He was preceded in death by his parents and son James White. VISITATION: 3:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2012, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
