John Leslie Wiley, Sr., age 69, of Iola, Kansas, passed away at his home on July 3, 2018. John was born on September 26, 1948, in Marion, Ohio, to Penrose Wiley and Elsie Price Wiley. John graduated from high school in Hartland, Michigan. He graduated college in Howell, Michigan. John enlisted in the United States Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. John married Linda McLaren on June 27, 1987, in Howell, Michigan. John was a member of the Iola Elks and Iola American Legion. John owned and operated AAA Cleaning in Iola for many years. He liked to play pool, hunt, and fish. John was known for making others laugh, for helping others, and teasing his grandkids. John is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home, two sons, Brett Karns and wife, Miki, Gas, Kansas, and Jon Karns and wife, Jamie, LaHarpe, Kansas; one daughter, Juanika "Nikki" Wiley, Ann Arbor, Michigan; four grandchildren, Nicholas Karns, Madison Karns, Shaylee Karns, all of Gas, Kansas, and Makenzy Karns, LaHarpe, Kansas; one sister, Janette Darling, Scottsville, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, John L. Wiley, Jr. According to John's wishes, his body was donated to science at the University of Kansas School of Medical Sciences. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
