Johnny Lee Burns, age 76, of Wichita, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020, in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born September 1, 1944, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Richard Lee and Dorothy (Sutton) Burns.
Johnny joined the United States Navy in 1963, serving in the Vietnam War for four years. He married Helen Marie Henry on May 28, 1970 at the First Christian Church in Garnett, Kansas.
He retired from BNSF Railroad. Johnny enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially loved his grandchildren.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Burns; and his wife, Helen Burns on September 18, 2010.
He is survived by his children, Michael Burns and wife Jennifer of Wichita, Kansas, Diana Taylor and husband John of Afton, Oklahoma, Wayne Burns of McPherson, Kansas, Stephan Cronk of Virginia; two brothers, Bill Burns of Neosho, Missouri, Richard Burns of Kansas City, Kansas; one sister, Connie Demoret and husband Leon of Kansas City, Kansas; six grandchildren, Dusty Cronk, Megan Bergman and husband Nick, Drew Burns and fiancé, Kaylee Burnett, Makenzie Burns, Tyler Burns, and Tamara Braithwaite; and three great-grandchildren, Coy Bergman, Riley Bergman, and Peyton Bergman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the First Christian Church in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas.
Johnny's family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 219 S. Oak, in Garnett, Kansas.
