Johnny Doyle Stoneking, Sr., 69, of Valley Center, Kansas, formerly of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, August 14, 2009. John was born August 26, 1939 at Macomb, Illinois, the son of Bennie and Ila (Young) Stoneking. He grew up at Epworth, Iowa. On February 6, 1958, Johnny married Sandra Beyer in Dubuque, Iowa. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year with a party in Iola with family and friends. He worked for John Deere Tractor in Dubuque, Iowa. He later owned and operated many businesses including a supper club in Waukon, Iowa, a furniture store in Melbourne, Iowa and bowling centers in Ft. Scott, Kansas, Iola, Kansas and Webster City, Iowa. After he retired, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. John was an avid bowler and a member of the Masonic Lodge. SURVIVORS: Wife of 51 years: Sandra Stoneking of the home 2 Daughters: Vicky McMillin & husband, David of Andover, KS; and Stacey Parker & husband, Garen of Mulvane, KS 1 Son: Jerry Stoneking and wife, Tina of Valley Center, KS Grandchildren: Jeff & Kathy Stoneking, Stephanie Fontes, Amanda & Jessica Novonty, Jacob Parker, and Savannah & Jordan Stoneking Great Grandchildren His Step-Mother: Ceresa Stoneking of Moline, IL 2 Sisters: Kathleen Cooper & husband, Gene of Rantoul, IL; and Jackie Zook & friend Gene of Bushnell, IL He was preceded in death by his mother, Ila Price, dad Bennie Stoneking and son Johnny Stoneking, Jr. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, KS VISITATION: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, prior to the service Food will be served at the American Legion in Iola, following the service.
