Joshua L. Smith, 20, of Piqua, Kansas, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, near Quincy, Kansas, in eastern Greenwood County, after the vehicle he was a passenger in was swept off the road by high water. Joshua was born December 10, 1988, at Burlington, Kansas, the son of Robert L. & Denise M. (Karmann) Smith, Jr. He grew up on the family farm west of Piqua. He attended Yates Center schools and graduated from Yates Center High School in 2007. In May of 2008, he graduated from the Flint Hills Automotive Tech School. Joshua enjoyed fishing, hunting, four-wheeling and being outdoors.
