Joyce Sneed, age 89, of Iola, Kansas, passed away December 12, 2022, at the Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola, Kansas. Joyce was born February 22, 1933, in Garnett, Kansas, to Hoyt Whetsel and Freda (Roush) Whetsel.
As a young lady, Joyce worked at Menegay's Restaurant in Iola. She received her GED in 1971 and worked as a federal meat inspector for many years. She retired in 1996 as assistant manager of the Greenery Restaurant in Iola.
She and her companion, Bill Meek, were together for 32 years before his death in 1996.
Joyce enjoyed shopping, going to Branson with friends, and working in her flower garden and mowing the yard. She liked spending time with her family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; companion, Bill Meek; brother, Dale Whetsel; sisters, Shirley Greaves, Donna Gray, Geraldine Beauragard; and granddaughter, Ashley Sneed.
Joyce is survived by son, Kirk (Patty) Sneed, Prescott, Arizona; daughters, Debbie (Phillip) Gutierrez, Humboldt, Kansas, Tammy Sneed, Springfield, Missouri; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Cremation will take place and no services are planned at this time.
Memorials are suggested to Carlyle Presbyterian Church, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
