Juanita Ethel Holloway, 80, of Gas, Kansas, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at the home of her son in Chanute, Kansas. Juanita was born August 25, 1928, at Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of George Luther and Ruby Ethel (Rice) Knoblock. She graduated from high school in LeRoy, Kansas. On May 15, 1947, Juanita married Harry F. Holloway. After graduating from Emporia State Teachers College, she taught school for several years. They lived in the Iola and Gas area most of their lives, moving to their present home in Gas in 1956. Harry preceded her in death on December 19, 1985. Juanita did volunteer work for the Allen County Hospital Auxiliary and the Allen County Historical Society. Survivors include: 1 Son: Harry D. Holloway & wife, Sherri of Chanute, Kansas 3 Daughters: Yvette Morrison & husband, Steve of Iola, Kansas Terri Holloway of Gas, Kansas Jacque Thummel & husband, Rodger of Iola, Kansas 7 Grandchildren & 8 Great Grandchildren 4 Step-Grandchildren & 8 Step-Great Grandchildren Juanita was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Knoblock, sister, Helen Sutherland and grandson, Joshua Storrer. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. The Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. Burial will follow in the LeRoy Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to either the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association, and may be left at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
