Judy Marie O'Brien

Oak, Garnett.   Judy Marie O’Brien, age 72, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital, in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on July 29, 1946, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Homer Julius and Marie Alice (Miller) Smethers.  Judy graduated from Kincaid High School in 1964.  Judy pursued a business degree from Fort Scott Community College. Judy worked for over 20 years at Klein Tools in Moran, Kansas.  She was a member of the Camden Assembly of God Church in Camden, Arkansas. She never met a stranger, and was willing to help anyone out that was in need.  Judy was known to have the ‘gift of gab’.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and she loved her nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Marie Smethers; one grandson, Dalton Michael O’Brien; and her constant companion, Baby Girl.  Judy is survived by her sons, Michael O’Brien of Smackover, Arkansas, Matthew O’Brien of Garnett, Kansas; three grandchildren, Kullen O’Brien, Michael O’Brien Jr., and Asa Scott O’Brien; two sisters, Janice Feuerborn of Garnett, Kansas, Debbie Spickard and husband Randy of Macon, Missouri; nieces, nephews and friends. A Celebration of Life for Judy will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 219 S. Oak, Garnett, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Judy O’Brien Memorial Fund, to help defray funeral expenses. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.feuerbornfuneral.com
