Katherine Thompson

Kathy Thompson, 57, of Iola, Kansas died Tuesday July 22, 2014 at her home. She was born January 13, 1957 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Frank J. and Etta Mae ( Lauer ) Florio. Kathy grew up in Haysville, Kansas and graduated from Campus High School. She was married to Mike White on February 21, 1976 and they had a daughter, Holly. He preceded her in death in 1982. On June 11, 1983 Kathy married Larry Thompson and they made their home in the Wichita area until moving to Iola in 1989. Kathy worked as a paraprofessional at Jefferson Elementary School. She then worked for Iola Vision Source before going back to work as a paraprofessional at the Iola High School. Survivors: Husband Larry One son; Jonathan Thompson of Colony Three daughters; Holly Jerome, Amanda Thompson, and Katie Thompson all of Iola Parents; Frank and Etta Florio of Mulvane Three brothers; Ronald of Mulvane, Rick of Derby, and Michael of Wichita Four sisters; Teresa Thompson of Topeka, Lorianne Nighswonger of Rose Hill, Lisa Neal of Indiana, and Leanne Igo of Dallas, Texas Seven grandchildren; Abigail and Liliana Jerome, Brody and Hannah Thompson, Molly Jo and Ethan Riebel, and Logan Thompson-Belknap Cremation has taken place. FUNERAL LITURGY: Noon Saturday July 26th at St. Johns Catholic Church in Iola. CELEBRATION TRIBUTE: 1:00 p.m. Saturday July 26th in the Lecture Hall at Iola High School. Memorials are suggested to Kappa Alpha Chapter of Phi Tau Omega Sorority or Allen County Hospice which can be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola who is in charge of arrangements.
