Kathleen Ward

Kathleen Jon Ward, age 81, of Moran, Kansas, passed away March 15, 2024, at Homestead of Girard Assisted Living, Girard, Kansas. Kathleen was born February 11, 1943, in Falls City, Nebraska, to John Eitel and Rose (Kaiser) Eitel.

Kathleen married Gerald Ward on June 9, 1971, in Gas, Kansas. She helped Jerry with his Bumper business. Kathleen was a high school secretary and then graduated from Pittsburg State University and taught school for many years in Iola and Moran. Kathleen enjoyed community service, where she volunteered with the Allen County Historical Museum, local public libraries, and Thrive Allen County.

Kathleen was proud her parents were Germans from Russia. She loved Runza, also known as Bierocks. She enjoyed eating at the Chicken Shack in Bronson and the Mexican restaurants in Humboldt.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Rosemary Orput; and brother-in-law, Harry Orput.

Kathleen is survived by daughter, Kim Longpine; grandchildren, Mitch Longpine, Amanda (Zach) Wheeler; great-granddaughter, Maisie Wheeler; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2024, in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Burial will follow in the Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas.

Memorials are suggested to Marmaton Valley School or Altoona Midway School, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
