Kathryn Joan Sarver, 80, of Iola, Kansas, died Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the home of her daughter in Owasso, Oklahoma, surrounded by all her children and grandchildren. Kathryn was born June 23, 1934, on a farm southwest of Iola, the daughter of Chester O. and Mabel Margaret (Smith) Wilcoxon. She graduated from Iola High School and Iola Junior College. She later received her Bachelor of Science degree from Emporia State University and a Master's degree from Pittsburg State University. Kathryn taught rural school in Coffey and Allen counties and then taught at Kansas State School for the Blind in Kansas City before becoming a teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Iola. She finished her teaching career at the Iola Middle School. Kathryn taught school for over 32 years. Kathryn married William L Sarver on December 20, 1958. He preceded her in death July 13, 1997. She was an active member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, serving as church organist since age 15. Other memberships include Sorosis Club, Allen County Regional Hospital Auxiliary and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. SURVIVORS: 5 Sons: David Sarver & wife, Jeannie of Olathe & their children Jackson & Jamison, Daniel Sarver of Kansas City, MO, Devan Sarver & wife, Lenka of Colorado Springs, CO & their children Michael & Abigail, Daaron Sarver & wife, Crystal of St. Peters, MO & their children Brett, Alex & Alyssa, and Deryl Sarver & Ila Caudell of Moran 2 Daughters: Deanene Tonn & husband, Christian of Owasso, OK & their children Manny & Loren, and Debra Marti & husband, Brett of Springfield, MO & their children Ryleigh & Makenzie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, H.O. "Bud" Wilcoxon. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Iola BURIAL: Geneva Cemetery, northwest of Iola IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: Memorials are suggested to Calvary United Methodist Church, Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, or Melanoma Research Foundation.
