Kelly Preston Peery, age 47, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. He was born on June 30, 1962, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Marvin and Judy (Blagg) Peery. He grew up around the Lone Elm, Kincaid, and Bush City areas. Kelly attended school in Fort Scott, Lone Elm, Kincaid, and was in the Crest Class of 1981 at Colony, Kansas. He earned his GED in 2001 from Allen County Community College. Growing up, Kelly belonged to the Seekers Not Slackers 4-H Club and Kincaid Cub Scouts. More recently he belonged to the Kincaid Fair Association, the Kincaid Fire Department, and he was a life member of NRA. Kelly worked with heavy equipment and farmed with his Dad. He also worked at different times with Adams Construction of Garnett, Kansas. He loved little kids and elderly people and could spend hours visiting. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, and just spending time outdoors. He also liked to spend his time building cedar furniture and collecting antiques. He also enjoyed going to steam engine shows, and he loved family reunions. Kelly is survived by his parents, Marvin and Judy Peery; his sister Kim Ellis and husband Terry; a niece, Haley Ellis; a nephew, Brock Ellis; all of Lone Elm, Kansas; his Aunt Marilyn Smith and husband Jack of Topeka, Kansas; cousins Susan Larison and family; Dusty Larison and family, all of Topeka; and Holly Decker and family of Manhattan, Kansas; friends and relatives. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at the Lone Elm Cemetery in Lone Elm, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kincaid Fair Association or the Old Kincaid High School Fund.
