Kenneth Eugene Hartman, age 88, of Moran, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Windsor Place in Iola, Kansas. He was born June 2, 1924, in Mound City, Kansas, the son of Edward and Grace (Huggins) Hartman. Kenny married Nellie Ray Hickman on August 10, 1949 in Garnett, Kansas; this union was blessed with five children. She preceded him in death. He then married Betty Jean Higginbottom-Bohnert on November 25, 1966 in Vinita, Oklahoma. She also preceded him in death. Kenny ran a blacksmith shop in Bronson, Kansas before marriage. His life's primary occupation was farming while completing many other trades including a mechanic, electrician, plumber, and a construction worker. Some would say he was a Jack of all Trades. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Grace Hartman; daughter, Rose Covey; step-daughter, Jeannie Eravi; five brothers; and three sisters. He is survived by his children, Nina Thompson and husband Bryan of Pomona, Kansas; Sally Powelson and husband Steve of Moran, Kansas; Gene Hartman and wife Kristi of LaHarpe, Kansas; Dale Hartman and wife Shirley of Moran, Kansas; Charles Bohnert and wife Joyce of Fenton, Missouri; 24 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
