Kenneth Hyde, age 80, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2011, at St. Luke's South in Overland Park, Kansas. He was born on May 18, 1930, in Newark Valley, New York, the son of Homer Lee and Claire Alberta (Snyder) Hyde. Kenneth graduated from Candor High School, entering into the United States Air Force serving for four years during the Korean Conflict, where he was a mechanic. He worked for the City of Denton, Texas for 25 years. Kenneth was united in marriage to Mildred Corine Pair on September 1, 1954 in Denton, Texas. This union was blessed with five daughters. He loved to read books, color pictures, and loved the outdoors. He also loved to fish and he cared for animals. Kenneth was a good husband, father and grandpa. He always was willing to help anyone at any time of the day. Kenneth was a good provider to his family and especially loved his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Beverly Keys and Helen Knauss; one daughter, Wanda Rippy and her husband Andy. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Mildred Hyde of the home; his daughters, Joyce Weibley and husband V.T. of Centralia, Illinois; Joan Rippy and husband Grover of Garnett, Kansas; Jane Dittman of Vandalia, Michigan; Vicky Hyde of Garnett, Kansas; one brother, John Knauss of Brando, Vermont; one sister, Barbara Caldwell of Apple Valley, California; two son-in-laws, Mike Dittman and Randy Patterson; fourteen grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 25, 2011 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett with burial to follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kenneth Hyde Memorial Fund, to help defray funeral expenses.
