Kenneth Slife

Kenneth Dene "Kenny" Slife, Sr., 67, of Iola, Kansas, died Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Allen County Regional Hospital in Iola. Kenny was born September 22, 1948, in Augusta, Georgia. He moved to California with his stepfather and mother, Bennie and Lena ( Dix ) Williams where he grew up and graduated from high school. While living in Bakersfield, California, he worked for the state as a forestry landscaper. In Coos Bay, Oregon, Kenny worked in the sawmill for the Douglas Fir Company. He returned to the Midwest and worked for Midland-Brake in Iola for over 20 years before devoting full time to his business, Slife Lawn Service and Snow Removal. On February 14, 1992, he was married to Judy Bishop. SURVIVORS: Wife: Judy 5 sons: Kenneth D. Slife, Jr. of Bakersfield, California, Bennie Slife of Parsons, Jeff Slife of Iola, Brandon Slife of Iola, and David Slife of Colony 2 daughters: Barbie Weber of Yates Center and Karen McClarey of Iola 1 stepson: Brad Kress of Iola 1 stepdaughter: Jessie Wools of Colony half-brother: Larry Slife of Hutchinson 2 half-sisters: Thelma Baber of Chanute and Roseanne Slife of Texas numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister, Edna Garner FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27th, 2015, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel with burial in Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas.
