Kenneth Walls

Kenneth E. "Duke" Walls, Sr., 78, of Iola, Kansas, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Tulsa Nursing Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Kenneth was born March 25, 1933, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Fon L. and Bessie J. (Hill) Walls. He grew up and attended school in Iola. He married Nancy J. Allison and has made his home in Iola most of his life. Kenneth worked at the brick yard and IMP Boats before starting work with Monarch Cement Company in 1978. He retired from Monarch in 1995. He attended the First Baptist Church in Iola. Kenneth enjoyed drawing, collecting planes and cooking. He had operated his own restaurant, Mr. Barbecue, in Iola. SURVIVORS: His Wife: Nancy J. Walls of Iola, KS 2 Children: Kenneth Walls, Jr. & wife, Jackie of Moran, KS, and Kim Wright of Broken Arrow, OK 1 Brother: Alfonzo Walls of Italy 3 Sisters: Evelina Burch and Lolita Johnson, both of Iola, KS and Thelma Shannon of Wichita, KS 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren A host of nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by a brother, James Walls, sister, Marybelle Lane and infant sister, Barbara Ann Walls. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Iola.
