Kenneth Carl Zumwalt Sr., age 80, of Richmond, Kansas, formerly of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Richmond Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Richmond, Kansas. He was born on July 17, 1938, in Independence, Missouri, the son of Carl Henry and Lorene (Slusher) Zumwalt. Kenneth graduated from Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri and Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri, and then served in the United States Army. Kenneth was formerly married to Dorothy Jean O’Dell and this union was blessed with one son. He retired from the Board of Education in Independence after 30 years. Kenneth enjoyed fishing, and making trips to the Truman Lake. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lorene Zumwalt. He is survived by his son, Kenneth C. Zumwalt Jr. and his wife Karen of Oak Grove, Missouri; one granddaughter, Nicole Conner and husband Blake of Oak Grove; two great grandchildren, Natalie and Brady. Memorial services will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at United Methodist Church in Atherton, Missouri.
