Kimberly Ann Gabauer

Kimberly Ann Gabauer, age 59, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020, in her home in Lawrence, Kansas.

She was born on July 1, 1960, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Eugene (Bud) and Joan (Warner) Kratzberg.

Kimberly was married to her devoted husband Thomas Gabauer for 35 years. She spent majority of her time with her three grandchildren, Alexander, McCallister and Charlotte, whom she loved very much. In her spare time, she loved working on her yard, gardening, baking, and supporting her Kansas City Chiefs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Joan Kratzberg; her son; David “Eric” Whitt; her sister, Diane Kratzberg; and her ex-husband, David L. Whitt.

Kimberly is survived by her husband, Thomas Gabauer; one daughter, Courtney Whitt; three grandchildren, Alexander Whitt, McCallister McNair, and Charlotte Whitt, of the home; one step-son, Tary Gabauer and wife Dawn Gabauer of Cameron, Missouri; one step-granddaughter, Kendall and husband Brad Carter; three great grandchildren, Peyton, Collin, and Silas of Cameron, Missouri; one step-grandson, Tyler and wife Janie Faville; one great grandchild, Aiden of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Lisa Mistry of Lawrence Kansas; two brothers, Michael Kratzberg and wife Ellen Kratzberg of Princeton, Kansas and Jeffery Kratzberg of Joplin, Missouri.

Kim believed in higher education. In 2004, she received an Associates of Science Degree from Neosho Community College. She then graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2007 from Emporia State University. She became a member of Alpha Kappa Delta in 2005. She then graduated from Washburn State University with a Master of Social Work Degree.

Kimberly was the definition of family. She was the glue to her family. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
