Norene Hobart, age 87, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Moran Manor, Moran, Kansas. She was born to the union of Jobe and Aileen (Springer) Williams on July 21, 1920 on the family farm in Humphreys, Missouri, where she grew up. Following high school she taught at a country school before moving to Kansas City where she met her husband. On May 8, 1944 she was united in marriage to Keith Hobart at Kansas City, Missouri. This union was blessed with one daughter. Following Keiths time in the service the couple moved to Iola, Kansas. They later moved to a farm south of Moran, Kansas. She taught in one room country schools, Fairlawn, Rock Creek, and Prairie Dell before teaching at the Moran Grade School. She then earned her Bachelors Degree from Emporia State University and a Masters Degree in Education from Pittsburg State University in 1960. Norene was Superintendent of Allen county Schools from 1965-1971. She returned to teaching as a Middle School math teacher until her retirement after forty years of teaching in Allen County Schools. Norene was a member of the Moran United Methodist Church and the Retired Teachers Association. She was a wonderful cook and she enjoyed knitting slippers for family and friends. Norene was preceded in death by her husband (April 29, 2004), parents, and two brothers, Bob and Wilburn Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Roberta Andrus and her husband Larry of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandchildren, Stacey Kale and husband Ken and family of Moran, Kansas; Brian Andrus and wife Jensi and family of Watertown, South Dakota; and nine great grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Moran Methodist Church, burial will follow at the Roseland Cemetery, Moran, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service at Moran. Memorial contributions may be made to the Moran Methodist Church.
