L. LaRee Thexton, age 92, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012, at the Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri. She was born on July 19, 1919, in LeRoy, Kansas, the daughter of Henry Ray and Lula (Griffith) Newlan. LaRee was united in marriage to John Thomas Thexton on July 21, 1937 at Welda, Kansas. This union was blessed with five children. They were married for 58 years. She was an AVON representative for 20 years. LaRee was active in Myra Chapter Order of Eastern Star of Colony; and held offices of Star Points, Conductress, Associate Matron, Worthy Matron, and District Aid. LaRee was a loving wife and she raised her family to be self-sufficient, respectful of elders, love of God and family. She made every child, grandchild and great grandchild feel like the most important person when she was with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. (Tom) Thexton; her parents, Henry (Ray) and Lula Newlan; brother Lester Newlan; sister Alice Loewe; and great grandson Christian Schott. LaRee is survived by her five children; Carol Wells and husband Calvin of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Richard Thexton and wife Brenda of Stella, Missouri; Karen Holt and husband Dean of Midwest City, Oklahoma; Harold Thexton and wife Marilyn of Colony, Kansas; Thomas Thexton and wife Angie of Hereford, Arizona; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at the Welda Cemetery in Welda, Kansas. Family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Colony. Memorial contributions may be made to the Colony Community Church or Colony Fire Department or Colony First Responders or Colony Lions Club. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at the Welda Cemetery in Welda, Kansas. Family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Colony.
