LaFaun “Mom” Cranor, age 91, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Windsor Place of Iola, in Iola, Kansas.
LaFaun was born November 23, 1928, to John and Zona Yehle in Hutchinson, Kansas. She graduated from high school in Hutchinson, Kansas. After high school, she began working at Western Maid making pickles, peanut butter, and apple butter. Upon getting married, she moved to Iola, Kansas and worked as a seamstress at Miller’s Dress Factory. After leaving Miller’s in 1974, she owned and operated The Pub/Palomino Club, where she was affectionately known as “Mom”.
LaFaun is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Cranor; daughter, Sereina Cranor; sisters, Jewel Neufeld, Joyce Phipps, Shirley Colbert, and Beverly Yehle; brother, Johnny Yehle.
LaFaun is survived by daughters, Janice Varvel of LeRoy, Kansas, Cheryl Canfield of Iola, Kansas, and Carol Stair of Chanute, Kansas; sons, Douglas Cranor of Yates Center, Kansas and Matthew Cranor of Big Cabin, Oklahoma; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends can greet the family on Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
Memorials in honor of LaFaun are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be left with the funeral home.
