LaJune Bodenhamer, age 77, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett. Shirley LaJune Shaw was born on October 4, 1933, at Kincaid, Kansas, the daughter of Orville and Forestine (Powell) Shaw. She grew up in the Kincaid area, attending school there also. LaJune was united in marriage to Glen B. Bodenhamer on September 3, 1955 in Garnett, Kansas. She worked as a cook at Greeley Grade school for 35 years, retiring in 1995. LaJune attended the First Christian Church in Garnett. She was a member of Eastern Star, Lane Chapter for 50 years, and Garnett Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers, and quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents. LaJune is survived by her husband, Glen Bodenhamer, of the home; son Randy Bodenhamer and wife Nancy of Burlington, Kansas; granddaughter Kelly Herndon and her children Rinny and Ivy of Lawrence, Kansas; grandson Shawn Harrell and his daughter Grace of Bowling Green, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Judy McKendrick and husband, Jay D, of Burley, Idaho and Nancy Day and husband, Gary, of Ozark, Missouri; brother-in-law, Jay Bodenhamer and wife, Betty, of Greeley, Kansas. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many generations of friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson County Hospital Foundation.
