Larry Feese, age 82, of Kincaid, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 21, 1941, in Morton, Pennsylvania. Larry was the second of three children born to John and Vera (Lindenmuth) Feese. He graduated from Ridley Park High School in Pennsylvania. He then attended Drexel University where he earned his BA in business, and was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity (he had nothing to do with the fire). Larry enlisted in the US Army and served in Viet Nam as a paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne. After being honorably discharged he worked for the CIA for a few years before he attended flight school. After earning his pilot's license he began working as a crop duster and also flying for the Georgia forestry department as a firefighter. A fateful assignment to fly out of the Lawrence, Kansas airport led Larry to cross paths with his future wife, Cathie Jones, would eventually become Cathie Feese on March 30, 1973 at Colony, Kansas. This union was blessed with two daughters, Carrie and Carla. They made their home on Cathie's family's farm. Larry took over the farming when his hunting would allow. He loved to hunt everything, with deer and quail being two of his favorites. He especially enjoyed a good stout beer and conversation with family and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 44 years, Cathie on August 2, 2017; and one sister, Patricia Glista in 2014.
He is survived by his daughters, Carrie Scheckel and husband Greg of Kincaid, Kansas, Carla Lockhart and husband Nick of Atchison, Kansas; five grandchildren, Kohlton and wife, Amber, Kinzee, and Kaylee Scheckel, Caitlyn and Cody Lockhart; brother, Jack Feese and wife, Brenda of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania; two nieces, Stacy and Shelley Feese and two nephews, David and Jason Glista.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, November 6, 2023, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Larry's family will greet friends following the memorial service.
