Larry Hermreck, age 71, of Garnett, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at St. Luke's South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas.
He was born on January 27, 1954, at Garnett, Kansas, a son in a set of twins born to Conrad B. and Ann M. (Wolken) Hermreck, being the first set born at Anderson County Hospital. Larry attended grade school at Richmond Grade School and went on to graduate from Garnett High with the Class of 1972. Following high school Larry began working at Farmers Co-op in Richmond, Kansas and later went to work as a painter for Rigid Form and Astro. Larry part-time farmed with his brothers and dad on their family farm.
Larry enjoyed living on the family farm where his love for animals was evident with the numerous cats he had. He had an unwavering love for the outdoors and cherished spending time on his four-wheeler with his kids, riding down to the creek to search for fossils and catch frogs. He also had a passion for shooting guns. Larry took great pride in displaying holiday decorations, bringing joy to all who passed by his home.
Larry was united in marriage to MaryCarol Renfroe in 1993, this union was blessed with two children, Carolyn and Joshua. His children were his whole world and he was very proud of them in all they did.
He was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Scipio, Kansas.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Robert Cook and nephew, Aaron Henry.
He is survived by his children, Carolyn Wittman and husband Tanner of Ozawkie, Kansas and Joshua Hermreck of Garnett, Kansas; two brothers, Terry Hermreck and wife Laura of Garnett, Kansas and Jerry Hermreck and wife Ramona of Richmond, Kansas; three sisters, Marilyn Cook of Osawatomie, Kansas; Sharon Weimer and husband Randy of Garnett, Kansas; Cindy Henry and husband Mike of Olathe, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 7, 2025, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Scipio, Kansas. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday evening at the church, followed by visitation from 6:30PM - 8:00PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Larry Hermreck Memorial Fund to help offset funeral expenses and left in care of the funeral home.
