Larry J. Knox, age 55, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on November 27, 2012, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. He was born March 14, 1957, in Yakima, Washington, the son of Joseph Frank and Clarice Ruth (Enright) Knox. He graduated from Wapato High School, in Wapato, Washington. Larry played many sports in high school. He was a talented singer and musician for most of his life, playing the trumpet and drums. He was a member of various bands throughout his lifetime. Larry married Diana White on August 30, 1986 in Jackson County, Missouri; this union was blessed with one daughter, Sarah. He worked for D&D Contractors in Garnett as a foreman for many years. Larry was caring and compassionate, big hearted, and willing to help anyone who needed it. His joy was to make everyone smile, laugh and be happy. He loved his family very much. He even loved the Kansas City Chiefs. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Porter and Alice May Enright; Francis and Grace (Knox) Hill; his father, Frank Knox; and niece, Tara Creach. Larry is survived by his mother, Clarice R. Knox, of Olathe, Kansas; wife Diana Knox, of the home; daughter, Sarah Knox of Garnett, Kansas; son, Jeremiah Knox and wife Krista of Yakima, Washington; daughter, Melissa Esquivel and husband Mike of Yakima, Washington; two sisters, Anita Gail Scrivner and husband Rich of Olathe, Kansas; Carol Ruth Gefre and husband Rob of Zillah, Washington; four grandchildren, Jordan Knox, Lilly Knox, Lexie Esquivel, Tyson Esquivel, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 219 S. Oak, Garnett, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
