Larry Manes

Larry Dennis Manes, age 78, of Moran, Kansas, passed away May 2, 2023, at Moran Manor, Moran, Kansas. Larry was born July 18, 1944, in Springfield, Missouri.

Larry received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas. He served his country in the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. Larry served on the USS Bainbridge and later he was an instructor in the Navy's nuclear reactor program in Idaho. Larry taught many years at Allen Community College, Iola, Kansas.

Larry and Nelda Cuppy were married August 18, 1995, in Girard, Kansas.

Larry kept statistics for the Allen Community College women's basketball team and also drove the team's bus. He enjoyed traveling. Larry was involved with Thrive Allen County, food distribution in Moran, and keeping the grocery store in Moran. He served several terms on the board of trustees at Allen Community College. Larry was actively involved in the EKAE Ethanol Refinery in Garnett, Kansas.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and step-daughter, Jo Cuppy.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nelda, of the home; step-son, Larry Cuppy; son-in-law, Walter Palmisano; grandchildren, Devon Cuppy, Cassandra Cuppy, Seth Cuppy; and one great-grandchild, Samuel Epstein-Cuppy.

Cremation will take place and no services are planned at this time.

Memorials are suggested to the Larry Manes and Nelda Cuppy Athletic Scholarship at Allen Community College, and may be left with Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas.
