Laura Kaye Coltrane, 25, of rural Humboldt, Kansas, died Friday, February 18, 2011, at Olathe, Kansas. Laura was born August 19, 1985, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Douglas Arthur and Cheryl Ann (South) Coltrane. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Humboldt. In 2003, Laura graduated from Humboldt High School with a 4.0 grade average. She continued her education with a science degree from Allen County Community College and completed the radiologic technologist program at Labette Community College. Laura has worked as a para at the Humboldt Middle School and part-time at Anderson County Hospital in Garnett. For the past year, she has been employed by Medics in Kansas City working in the College Park Family Clinics. Laura was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church where she had been active in the youth group growing up. She had also been a member of the Full-O-Pep 4-H Club. Laura was a member of The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. She enjoyed texting and talking on the phone with her friends, listening to music and spending time with her nephew, Cole. SURVIVORS: Her parents: Doug & Cheryl Coltrane of rural Humboldt, KS 1 Sister: Megan Anderson & husband, Todd of rural Humboldt, KS Nephew & Niece: Cole & Haylie Anderson Grandparents: Leonard & Mary South of rural Iola, KS Aunts & Uncle: Carol Wagner of Independence, MO, Carol Olson & husband, James of Albuquerque, NM, JoAnn Clum & husband, Dwight of Springfield, MO and Jerry Coltrane & wife, Ann of Elmhurst, IL 7 Cousins & 18 Second Cousins She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Andrew Richard Coltrane, and grandparents, Arthur and Evelyn Coltrane. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at the Humboldt United Methodist Church. Rev. Debby Dick will officiate. BURIAL: LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, KS MEMORIAL CHOICES: Hope Unlimited or Allen County Animal Rescue Foundation (ACARF) Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
