Laura Mead

Laura Mary Mead, 51, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas. Laura was born December 21, 1959, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Conrad George and Rose Ellen (Cavanaugh) Heiman. The family moved from Denver to a farm west of Iola in 1971. Laura attended Iola High School. On March 17, 1979, Laura married Kim A. Mead in Iola. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2006. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Iola and enjoyed reading. SURVIVORS: 3 Children: David Heiman & wife, Sarah of Iola, KS, Lisa Heiman Dievert & husband, Nathan of Battlefield, MO, and Sara Mead of Battlefield, MO 1 Sister: Gail Laymon of Iola, KS 3 Grandchildren: Benjamen Heiman, Jessia Dievert and Genevieve Mead 2 Step-Grandchildren: Glenn Riddle and Mercedes Maple She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Dorothy Heiman, Michelle Koopman and Patricia Heiman. VISITATION: 6:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2011, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. ROSARY & MASS: The parish rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011, at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola, followed by the mass at 11:00. The Reverend Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant.
