Lawrence Bostick

Lawrence P. "Larry" Bostick, 77, of Iola passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at his home. Larry was born August 17, 1939 in Sturgis, MS to Noel and Juanita (Korenagy) Bostick. He grew up in Wichita, KS and enlisted at an early age in the U.S. Navy, serving honorably for four years. He was stationed in southeast Asia, including Thailand and the Philippines. Following his return to Kansas, he became skilled in riding saddle bronc and bullriding. He married Phyllis Irene Laver on July 23, 1973 in Iola. He worked on various pipelines in Kansas and Oklahoma, and settled in the Iola area. He worked for Rainbow Bread and Paige Milk. He retired from Hiland Dairy as a truck driver in 2002. After retirement he drove a truck for Whittaker Truck Line until 2015. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and playing lottery scratchers tickets. He never missed watching the Denver Broncos on TV. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and his many friends. Larry is survived by four children; Carman R. Huse and husband Chet of Humboldt, Doug Ford of New Mexico, Shawn Manbeck and husband Mike of Moran, Shane L. Bostick and wife Christine of Oberlin, KS; eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers, Robert and George, and a sister Betty. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. Burial of the urn will follow at the Gas City Cemetery next to Phyllis. Contributions in his honor can be made to the Larry P.
