Lawrence E. Rourk, 87, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, January 9, 2015, at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute. Lawrence was born February 23, 1927, in Swartz, Missouri, the son of Elzie and Ruby (McLean) Rourk. The family moved to farms southeast of Humboldt and west of Humboldt as he was growing up. He attended Salem and Owl Creek Rural Schools. On June 14, 1950, Lawrence married Delma Harris in Iola and they have made their home in the Iola area most of their married lives. He has worked for Shannon Hardware in Iola and as an oil driller in the oil and gas fields. He was a member of the Iola Elks and had served on the Allen County Fair Board. Lawrence enjoyed gardening and fishing. SURVIVORS: His wife of 64 years: Delma Rourk of the home 1 Daughter: Debbie Rourk of Iola, KS 1 Son: Larry Rourk & wife, Angie of Humboldt, KS 2 Grandsons: Paden Rourk & wife, Devan of Mill Valley, CA and Avery Rourk of Humboldt, KS 1 Brother: Jim Rourk & wife, Donna of Iola, KS 1 Sister: Evelyn Geffert of Humboldt, KS He was preceded in death by his infant son, Leon Rourk, brother Raymond Rourk and sisters Pauline Daniels and Dorothy Ellis. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. BURIAL: Mt. Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, KS MEMORIAL: Hope Unlimited Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
