Leah Mildred (Sis) Beltz, age 90 of Moran, Kansas died on Monday, May 11, 2015. She was born on July 8, 1924, the daughter of Harry & Monta (Stanley) Stewart. Mom graduated from Elsmore High School in 1942 and entered the service July 11, 1944. While in the service she was employed as a teletype operator. She was awarded the American Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. She was honorably discharged on May 7, 1946. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Humboldt where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized on September 11, 1994. Mom was a great seamstress and loved to cross-stitch. One of her cross-stitch pieces and a dress she made earned blue ribbons at the county fair. She was so amazed and excited! She married Clifford (Dutch) Beltz on March 9, 1946 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. This union was blessed with three children. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Rosemary Wood, and six brothers; Johnny Stewart, Joe Stewart, Howard Stewart, Bud Stewart, Earl Stewart and Jerry Lee Stewart. She is survived by three sisters; Iris Troxel, Iola, KS; Diane Tennison, Fairfield, PA; Judy Dobbs, Fritch, TX; one son, Daniel L. Beltz, Kansas City, KS and two daughters, Cheryl J. Garrett, Burlington, KS and April Hawkinson, Elsmore, KS; six grandchildren, Jeff A. Beltz and Jason M. Beltz both of Kansas City, KS; Ernie L. Hardman, Paola, KS; Justin L. Weddington, Gardner, KS; Britta J. Hawkinson, Chanute, KS; Karl F. Hawkinson, Elsmore, KS; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Beltz, Kansas City, KS; Isabella Winner, Chanute, KS; Christopher Weddington, Adrian Weddington, Ricky Gibson, Triston Gibson, Tailer Gibson all of Gardner, KS and numerous nieces & nephews. VISITATION: 10:30-11:30 a.m., Monday, May 18, 2015, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola prior to leaving for graveside services. GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 12:30 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2015, at the Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kansas MEMORIAL: Moran Manor Activity Fund Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola.
