Lenova Jean Pickard, age 91, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Scipio, Kansas, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Wedgewood Nursing Home in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born February 9, 1922 in Green Ridge, Pettis County, Missouri, the only child of Henry and Ida Belle (Craig) Marshall. Jean graduated from Westport High School with the class of 1939. Jean married Earl Pickard of Scipio on October 10, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri. After Earl completed his tour of duty in WWII they moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where she studied to become an LPN, working at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for over 20 years. They retired to Garnett (Scipio) in 1976. This union was blessed with two daughters, Mary and Loretta. Jean loved to sew and craft, and made many items of clothing for her and her daughters, as well as decorative and household items. She and Earl had a large garden, and canned or preserved part of their harvest every year. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ida Belle Marshall, and her beloved husband Earl. Jean is survived by her daughters: Mary Eichhorst and husband Edward of Ft. Worth, Texas; and Loretta Marshall and husband Larry of Raytown, Missouri; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many friends and acquaintances around the country. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio, Kansas. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
