Leota Mae Waddell, age 94, of Moran, Kansas, formerly of Kincaid, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas. She was born on July 5, 1917, in the old Allen County Hospital of La Harpe, Kansas, the daughter of Walter and Stella (Leake) Adams. Leota married George S. Waddell on June 5, 1937 at Kearney, Nebraska. This union was blessed with nine children. They lived in Kearney, Nebraska for two years and the first child was born. They moved to Humansville, Missouri for a time, moving to Bolivar, Missouri, and two sons were born. In 1947, they purchased their 160 acre farm, where they made their home and raised their nine children for 52 years. She was a member of the Kincaid Methodist Church. Leota cooked for many years at the Kincaid Diner, located southwest of Kincaid. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Stella Adams; her husband, George S. Waddell on May 20, 1974; four sons, Larry Waddell; Dale Waddell; Danny Waddell; and Terry Waddell; three brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren; and one great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Waddell of Walnut, Kansas; four sons, Ronald Waddell of Indianapolis, Indiana; Walter Waddell of Butler, Missouri; Jerry Waddell of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma; David Waddell and wife Amber of Pomona, Kansas; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren, with two on the way; and seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at the Kincaid/Selma First United Methodist Church in Kincaid, Kansas, burial to follow in the Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends on Friday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Moran, Kansas from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
