Leslie Lyle Morgan, Jr

Leslie Lyle "Pete" Morgan, Jr., age 68, of Iola, Kansas passed away at his home on Monday, December 18, 2023.

Pete was born March 17, 1955 at Waynesville, Missouri to Leslie Lyle Morgan and Helen (Kessler) Morgan. Pete married Sherrie Bartholomew on September 29, 1974. They were blessed with two children, Christine and Brian. They later divorced. On January 26, 2016, Pete married Jammie Blevins in Iola.

In his free time Pete enjoyed being on the river, fishing for catfish, riding his Harley, and four wheelers. He loved working on his '70 Nova with his son, Brian, and was looking forward to completing it. Pete cherished his animals that were like babies to him and Jammie, including their dogs, Ozzy and Bud, Pedro the Parrot, and Ol' Yeller and Fat Girl, the cows who were bought to be future steaks, but ended up being like family. Pete was blessed with many lifelong friends, and they spent countless hours together over the years.

Pete was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Sr., when Pete was seven years old; his mother, Helen Spurgeon in 2010; two brothers Ulysses Morgan, and Paul Morgan; and sister, Naomi "Susie" Lawerence.

He is survived by his wife, Jammie, of the home; daughter, Christine Morgan, of Princeton, Kansas; son, Brian Morgan, of Iola; Jammie's children Wendy Mariscal, of Iola, and Jeremy Mariscal, of Dallas, Texas; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ollie Lackey, Rosemary Fishman, Lyla Bentley, Wanda Holland, and Bonnie Ann Dorsey; and one brother, Clarence Spurgeon.

Funeral services for Pete will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. The family will greet friends following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Warriors and left in care of the funeral home.
